School Bites is a "cross between Harry Potter and Anne Rice", that follows the story of Cherri Creeper, an average New York Art School Student who gets turned into a vampire by the mysterious Dante. Because of her age and vampire nature, Cherri must attend the Shadow Academy, where vampires learn to drink responsibly! In her adventures there, she befriends Cleobatra, Fujiko, Sugar Shock, Annie Mia and Imp, and has frequent run ins with the mortal world.

Formerly known as Charlotte, before her transformation to vampire. She's a hip and stylish girl, and is also very generous and friendly. She still struggles at times with her new vampire status, and the rules and regulations at the Shadow Academy. Like any female teen, she is searching for fun and adventure, and trying to get good grades at the same time. She developed a large crush early in the semester, on the mysterious mortal singer of the band 'Transfussion'. She also has been publicly claimed by, and occasionally dreams about, Dante, the vampire who made her. She is an object of much attention at the Shadow Academy, particularly by headmistress Professor MoonFire. It is unclear now why her position is so important to the greater scale of things.
An African American Jewish vampire from a musical family, Cleo is both maternal and innocent. She has comforted Cherri, but tends toward shyness when in the group as a whole. Recently, while out skinny dipping, Cleo's self-consciousness about her larger body emerged. While trying to talk herself into being courageous enough to get naked, she bumps into Phantom Blue. They have a mutual love of rock music, and despite her embarrassment about her body and undressed state, she develops a large crush on him. Later, at Cherri's suggestion to even the scales, the girls do a ninja panty raid on the boy's showers, and accidentally see Phantom Blue nude. That image seems to be haunting Cleo a lot lately, in a distracting way.
Her name means "one of a kind", and this Japanese werecat vampire certainly is! Fujiko is very forward and, like a cat, curious about everything. She has a crush on Cherri and grooms her every chance she gets. Although mischievous about many things, Fujiko is loyal and very accepting. Her mother is powerful in the community, but Fujiko prefers to make her own way, and have as much as possible while doing so.
A former cheerleader with pink hair, Sugar Shock is constantly upbeat, spastic, and full of energy. She almost never sits still, and rarely keeps quiet. Although this is annoying at times to the others, especially Annie Mia, Sugar Shock remains a part of the group of friends. Currently, Sugar Shock is dating Imp, and enthusiastic about it (as she is about everything).
The only vegan vampire in the Shadow Academy, Annie Mia is constantly depressed of energy and spirits, not being very happy with her new vampire status. She doesn't chime in often, but when she does it is usually with a biting, sarcastic, or deadpan remark. Being of a very monotone and slightly introverted personality, she refrains from activities such as pillow fights, Annie Mia tags along on the group's adventures. Although Annie does come off as deadpan and unfeeling, she is very understanding and sympathetic, understanding Cherri's deep feelings for Christopher and wishing to help them be together. She told her later when Cherri received detention that, whatever happened, it was worth it, and a unspoken understanding has arisen between both girls, bonding them closer. She is considerate, caring and loyal, and has ultimately proved her worth as a friend, bringing Cherri and Christopher together, and trying to protect for Cherri's sake. After tasting blood for the first time, she has now become the Academy's first Dark Angel, seemingly the same being as Professor Seraphis.
Imp is the upstart troublemaker from a large royal family of nosferatu-style vampires. His family disapproves of his chaotic, nerdy behavior. While Imp is often loud and interposes himself everywhere, he is also loving, loyal, and intelligent. His acting out is lessened once he begins dating Sugar Shock, though they make a very over-the-top couple.
British singer/songwriter for the band Transfussion, Christopher has done volunteer work for the Shadow Academy's 'safe drinking' class. He was entranced for this, so it all seems like a dream to him, but it helps him cover rent. It was during his stint as a blood bag that Cherri first saw him, and developed a huge crush on him. Christopher seems similarly haunted by Cherri, who he thinks is just a figure of his imagination.
One of Lady Deborah's (Lady Deborah is a Vampire that lives in the mortal realm and is inspired by Debbie Harry) brood. He is currently acting as mortal escort for Cherri and crew as they attend the Transfusion concert in the mortal realm.
An upperclassman with a passion for music, he is the current Music 101 teacher (covering for Professor McCartney in his absence). He met Cherri and crew while they were out skinny dipping, which leads to some awkwardness for Cleobatra, who has a huge crush on him.
Headmistress of the Shadow Academy, she is mysterious and powerful. She seems to have a personal interest in Cherri, perhaps as part of a larger power struggle with Dante. Her loyal lover and servant, Professor Seraphis, watches over Cherri on her behalf.
A bat, initially sent to invite Cherri to the Shadow Academy, he hangs around her afterward to offer assistance. He is just a bat and doesn't speak, but he clearly loves Cherri.
